7+ years ago I would have never believed that I’d be writing about a car on my blog. But then I fell in love with a car guy and reading blogs. So, here I am, telling you about our story and a car or two…
I met Ron while he was working on the differential of his Corvette (you can read more about how we met here.) Looking back, there were definitely times he may have used the car to show off for me ๐ But what I remember most were all the memories made driving that car around.
I remember Labor Day weekend 2009 he drove us to my home to meet my family for the first time. I specifically remember introducing Ron to county music and hearing Darius Rucker, Alright on the radio. After hearing it, Ron said “Well I think that guy is alright”, poking fun at how many times the word is sung. Ironically in 2014 we went to see Darius Rucker in concert, so its funny to see where life leads us.
I remember the many times driving to Port Huron to visit his family and listening to Weezer or Jack Johnson. Which I think was a big influence for our first dance song at our wedding; Ron chose Angel by Jack Johnson. I also remember that damn CD player and the loud beep noise it would make, also the fact that sometimes the volume at 2 was too loud but 1 was too quiet. The struggle was real! HAHA
It was the car I remember driving to our first anniversary dinner. Where we went to a restaurant that is near where we now live and it makes me smile when I see it on my way to Target ๐ It is also the car we drove to dinner where Ron asked me to marry him.
Watching the Vette drive away made me a little emotional since there are so many memories with it. Plus I knew what it meant to my husband. It was also emotional though because I knew it meant we were closer to the dream of our next Corvette.
Just over a week after selling ours we purchased our forever Vette! So emotional! This is the car I know we will work on together. The projects have already begun and its been an entire family hobby – Hank & Hal mostly provide moral support or snores. ๐
I know this is the car that my husband will work on with our kids and teach them many of the things his father taught him. It’s the car the kids will ask to borrow for their high school prom because its better than the family car or used car they are driving. It’s the car that we will have many travels and adventures in. The car we’ll sneak away in on date night.
This is our Forever Vette.
