My husband and I have somewhat thrown around the idea of repainting our deck all summer, never very serious but just noticing that it needed to be done. Well, on Thursday we had a more serious discussion and decided this weekend we were gonna make it happen! Ron quick read some tips and tricks online and we just went with it.
This is our deck after we removed all the furniture and such. It was in pretty rough shape, I guess 2 beagles will do that.
We rented a pressure washer and got to work removing what was left of the paint. Saturday already called for rain which was fine since we were soaking the deck. Then we just had to let it sit to dry out.
So we used the remainder of Saturday to calculate how much paint we needed and what colors we wanted. It was all just a guesstimate and I tried to refer to Pinterest for deck color ideas. We found some inspiration and we were off to get our supplies. We went with Brick Red with white accents along the railings to match the white trim of our house. We also replaced a few boards while we were at it.
We waited until we thought the deck was dried out and got to work with the paint. Since the deck is the main access outside for our dogs we had to lock them up inside until it dried, this is how Hank felt!
It is still a work in progress and we plan to chip away at it a little bit throughout the week too. Hopefully we’ll be able to finish it up next weekend – though I’ll be out of town for a girls weekend! 😉
