Hi there, hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend, we sure did! Somehow we completely forgot to snap a family pic but here are a couple from our family time together <3
My Mom helped me get all my Christmas decor setup on Saturday before they headed back home and I am SO THANKFUL for that – like she put the tree up herself & got it decorated while I tinkered with some of the smaller decor & took lots of breaks to put my feet up!
I left the door to the nursery open & Hal attempted his first try at getting hold of a couple baby toys, so instead I gave each of the beags a new dog toy which I think was what Hal was probably after anyway 😉 Hal destroys the toys immeadiately while Hank prefers to play with someone or really just keep toys away from Hal LOL! So Hank chewed for just a bit thinking Hal was crazy for making a mess and that was enough for Hank, tired him right out 😉
I also wanted to share about Giving Tuesday, the biggest fundraising day of the year for non-profits! I think it is so important that during the holiday season we remember to give as well, you can read more in my post last year here, but these are a few of the organizations that we will be donating generously to tomorrow in case you’re interested in giving too!
For 5 years now we’ve been donating to Rescue & Freedom Project (previously known as Beagle Freedom Project). They negotiate with companies & organizations across the world to release animals (mostly beagles) from harsh or inhumane circumstances like testing labs. They also spearhead legislature to protect these animals, ultimately fighting to end animal testing. We’ve since become a cruelty free home because of the awareness Rescue & Freedom Project has raised. I also love shopping their online store – I usually ask for gifts from here from my hubby and typically buy something for my sister from them too!
Vet Friends Foundation was founded by Military Veterans and they work to rescue senior dogs mostly in Metro Detroit and finding loving homes for their last years, months, or even just days. They also have a Vet Friends Til the End program in which they will match senior dogs with Military Veterans while covering all medical expenses for the dogs life. This organization is doing great work for senior dogs in animal shelters!
New to our list this year is Black Girls Code, an organization near us in Detroit, MI, that is working to bring not only girls but black girls into STEM fields through programs that encourage & teach computer coding. As engineers my husband & I understand the complete importance of programs like this and were happy to find something local!
And last we’ll be donating to WDET-FM , a public radio station in Detroit, today as well. We listen almost every single day as we commute to and from work and enjoy a lot of the programs that they provide. Today their donations are being doubled as well, so our donation will go even a little further! If you don’t follow an NPR station I highly recommend trying it out, while it tends to certainly be informative it is also very interesting and remarkable the stories that they bring to life!

Your tree looks great and I love the lit garland! The pictures of the dogs wiped out next to the stuffing is hilarious too- have a great week Rechelle!

Thanks Holly! I thought the dogs were too funny as well 😉

Happy post Thanksgiving Rechelle. This 4 day weekend went all too fast; I tried to savor each moment. Work will go slow now. Your home decor looks beautiful; sounds like you and your mom have a wonderful relationship. I can relate to the tired dog w toy stuffing… seen it many times w my pups. Thank you for the reminder of Giving Tuesday… it gets lost in the shuffle of the shopping madness. Have a good fast work week.

Ugh, yes this week is always the slowest & hardest to get through! Only 4 work weeks until Christmas though 😉 Hope it goes quick for you too, thanks Laurie!

The dogs sleeping together are so cute! Thanks for sharing the organizations you support!

Aren’t they!? The dogs play hard and I think sometimes annoy one another but they love each other too 😉
