Today I’m linking up with Sheaffer and Shay to share What’s Up Wednesday!
What we’re eating this week…
We’ve got a friend visiting through the Fourth of July so we’ve got big plans to take him around Michigan and that means we’ll be hitting up some good restaurants for great food! Here are a couple of our recent meals, Asian Chicken & Taco Salad.
What I’m reminiscing about…
Closing on our house 2 yrs ago! We closed on our house on June 26, 2014 but since we still had a couple of weeks until our apartment lease was up we took the opportunity to scrub the walls (I never knew how dirty they could get) and paint everything except the bathrooms and spare bedrooms. We basically went straight to the house after work and painted until almost midnight most days, plus we still had to pack up our apartment! It was a busy time, oh and did I mention we were less than 3 months away from our wedding at the time?!?! Most dinners looked like this during those weeks haha
What I’m loving…
My garden and flowers! We decided to try out a garden this year and I have been obsessed with watching it grow. It hasn’t gone perfectly and I still don’t really know what I’m doing but I’m having so much fun! I think we will go bigger next year 😉
What we’ve been up to…
I’ve been collecting little trinkets and things to decorate our bedroom since we moved in and I’ve just finally decided to start actually putting things up! I’m not sure what took me so long but I am loving how it’s all coming together. I got these shutters at the end of last summer, just painted them a little and Ron got them on the wall for me. I made the tassel banner, see the tutorial here. Find my fairy lights here, mirror here, sofa table here, and dresser here.
What I’m dreading…
Ron starts his masters classes back up next week. I am so proud of him for pursuing his dreams and putting in all the hard work to earn his Masters degree! I’m also a little selfish though because I dislike having to be home alone for the night and it isn’t always easy taking care of household things plus 2 dogs. Thankfully the summer semester is short and he only has class 2 nights a week though!
What I’m excited about…
Fourth of July!!! What are your holiday plans?
What I’m watching/reading…
I’ll watch Pretty Little Liars a day late on Wednesdays since Ron will be in class then and I’ll keep up with working through Private Practice on Mondays since he is class then as well. In between I’m reading The Island.
What I’m listening to…
I love when Ron just picks up the guitar and plays us a few songs! He always asks for requests and most times we choose country music, this day he was playing lots of Eric Church.
What I’m wearing…
All things Red, White, and Blue! Especially my newest socks!!! I love Woven Pear and highly recommend them, they are a little pricey but I promise so worth it. Your feet will thank you! P.S. If you follow my link to make your first Woven Pear purchase you will receive 20% off! Treat yourself ladies!
What I’m doing this weekend…
A friend of Ron’s is visiting for a week. We will be taking him around and showing him Michigan. We’re thinking of doing a brewery tour around Southeast MI this weekend – let me know of any places we should stop at!
What I’m looking forward to next month…
Its a month long celebration of BIRTHDAYS in our home!! First mine, then Hank & Hal’s, then finally Ron’s. Its going to be a great birthday month!
That about sums it up for us here right now.
I’ll see you on Friday with my faves!

Your bedroom is adorable!!! I love your “headboard” – fabulous! And those flowers are fabulous! I love Eric Church (he actually is from 30 minutes from where I live) and if my husband could a) play his songs on the guitar and b) actually sound like him when he sings I would be a very happy girl. But I guess I will settle for him a) playing the radio and b) sounding horrible LOL!

Thank you so much for your kind words Amanda! The headboard was definitely a Pinterest win, hehe. SO COOL that you live near Eric Church, he is certainly one of our favorite artists!!! My husband doesn’t quite sound like him but hey I still enjoy my own personal mini concerts, plus it is always request hour in this house! Too funny 😉
