Today marks 2 years of this blog, Our Home with Hounds!!! I truly love being able to post in this space & connect with each of you. I enjoy documenting life here and having a creative outlet for myself too. THANK YOU for reading along and for the comments as well! Cheers to more years of blogging!
I’m sharing what I’ve been reading lately & then at the bottom I’ve got a GIVEAWAY to celebrate my blogiversary! Remember you can always keep up with my latest books on Goodreads!
Love having a Hilderbrand novel in my monthly rotation! They all take place in Nantucket and I just can not get enough. This one follows a family that spends every summer on Nantucket, only this year they are visiting without their father who died in a place crash on the way home from a business trip a few months prior. The summer is full of boiling emotions & swirling passions between the mother & an old flame, and teenage romance for each of twins. I did feel the story line was a little unrealistic at times and certainly cheesy but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Not my favorite Hilderbrand book but still a good one to pick up π
This one was an audiobook for me & a lengthy one at that. This book takes place in France during World War II and I LOVED it!!! The story is told between 2 sisters whom are quite different from one another. As it progresses their relationships are tested and I found maybe they weren’t so different after all. I loved the historical aspect of this book and thought it was a fresh perspective on World War II from how it affected life in France. The story was extremely moving and eye opening! HIGHLY recommend!
Another audiobook for me this month π The suspense in this book really kept me intrigued throughout! In Shaker Heights everything is picture perfect and all the members of the community play by the rules. That is until a couple adopts a Chinese-American baby that erupts into a custody battle that divides the town and everything comes unraveled! This book has many characters & each of them has a unique story that you get to read. It really dives deep into the depth of keeping long time secrets as well as motherhood and the consequences of thinking you can avoid disaster or heartbreak by planning & following rules. I did get a little lost with all the various story lines and honestly some of them just felt like they didn’t add to the overall story but the message throughout that really wrapped up in the end was SO good!
This was the sweetest little book & a quick, easy read for me this month! It follows Addie as she goes to Ireland for her Aunt’s wedding. She can’t wait to leave Ireland to visit her bestie in Italy but of course her closest brother Ian does something to cause them to miss their flight. Thank goodness she finds a guidebook in the hotel lobby, Ireland for the Heartbroken. Their adventures along the way kept me laughing and dreaming of Ireland!
NOW for a GIVEAWAY to celebrate 2 years of blogging! This time since my giveaway post coincides with my monthly book review post I thought I would give away a giftcard to Amazon Kindle (of course you can use the eGiftcard to buy a physical book too, or whatever your heart desires)! Enter through the rafflecopter below, ends at midnight on 6/24, winner will be announced on Monday! GOOD LUCK!
And of course, a quick look at some of my favorite posts from the last year of blogging!
