Joining a couple link ups today…sharing my favorites with Andrea, Erika, and Narci, as well as joining Holly for Thankful Thursdays!
We spent last weekend in my hometown for Memorial Day weekend festivities! Ron finally got to take the Vette out to the track and we all just spent a lot of time hanging out, it was such a FUN weekend (excuse the picture overload)!!!
My Dad was telling stories about trucking to Ronald and his facial expressions had all of us laughing too hard! He was really in to it!!
This month for Thankful Thursdays the topic is motherhood. Since becoming a Mom myself I have a newfound respect for ALL mothers, but I especially value my own Mom & MIL even more now than ever before!
Both of our mothers helped us in the immediate weeks following the birth of Ronald and it was so appreciated. My MIL became a mother while living away from family, plus my FIL served in the Air Force so she even spent some time essentially being a single parent at times. I admire her strength in raising two incredible children! I now realize that when you become a mom you just do what you have to do for your children as there is no other option – I got sick the last week of my maternity leave, waking up with a 102 degree fever one morning and my husband mentioned a couple days later that he was so impressed because I never complained while still having to take care of our baby. But I didn’t really have any other choice, I did my best to take care of myself while still caring for Ronald and made the most of it, like I’m sure my MIL often did while her husband was away! Since becoming a boy mama I have a newfound respect for my MIL knowing that she watched & encouraged her son, my husband, to move far away to pursue his career and dreams. She sends us mail often because she knows just how much I love getting mail and she finds the cutest trinkets that perfectly fit our favorites! I truly could not ask for a better Mother in Love ๐
My mom has been an immense help to us! She comes over every single Friday to care for Ro (her name for our Ronald), driving an hour and a half each way. And she somehow manages to clean our house too each Friday, doing the laundry, any dishes, scrubbing bathrooms, making beds, and vacuuming! She made sure their house has the necessities so that it makes visiting them easier and we don’t have to haul a bunch of baby things, Ro even has his own little nursery in their house! She came to my aid a couple times during maternity leave when I just needed her, arriving to my house really early in the morning to help me with Ronald so I could get to my postpartum appointments. When I was gone for a weekend bachelorette she came over to help Ron, so he wasn’t on his own with a baby the entire weekend. I’ve always said that my Mom was born to be a Mom and its never been more apparent that being a Mom & Grandma truly is what she is best at!
I am very thankful to have the Mothers I do in my life and I’m learning from the best about this new Motherhood gig I’ve got. I’m finding that it’s a lot about coexisting. There is joy and fear, pride and guilt, grace and failure, strength and exhaustion, disappointment and LOVE. Motherhood really is a roller coaster of emotions and we’re all just winging it!

Aww suck a sweet post. Thank you. You make it easy to be your MIL with all the sunshine you bring every day. Your a great mom, couldn’t ask for a better Daughter-in-Love to raise my grandson. Remember on the rough days, it happens to the best of us. Love you! ๐๐๐

It is so lovely that your mom and mother in law are helpful with the baby. It is hard living far away from family for me! I love Ronald’s facial expressions in those photos and his red, white, and blue outfit!

Happy Friday… even though a short work week it still seemed long. I love your post and pics. I chuckled at you in the car with your โlittleโ boys – Ronald, Hank and Hal… What blessings your mom and mother in law have been to you, before and after Ronaldโs birth. My mom was the same way with my sister when she had her kids (now almost 20, 18 and 15). But they still want and need Paw Paw – the Chinese name for maternal grandma. Enjoy your weekend!

Hehe, we were all piled in the van! Yes, I am very blessed to have such helpful family! I grew up with my grandparents just a couple blocks up the street and know how special it is to have that ๐ Happy Friday Laurie, enjoy!
