I am linking up with Jana Says & Life according to Steph to share my books, specifically I’m sharing my favorite reads from 2020!
Last year I discovered poetry & fell in love with these books…
Brave New Mama by Vicki Rivard – this is a book that I think I’ll give to every new mama friend from now on! I have loved it, the poems are so relatable to motherhood & many brought me to tears.
What Kind of Woman by Kate Baer – this is a must read! Kate Baer is also one to follow on IG, I love her content. I even snagged a few things from her merch release last year & have plans for gifts.
I had a hard time picking my faves this year, I guess I read a lot of great books! These were a few that stood out to me most…
The Hate U Give/On The Come Up by Angie Thomas – My favorite YA books this year. I really enjoyed reading both of these books! They were very well written & eye opening and especially relevant considering the year of enlightenment regarding inequalities & injustices of minorities. I especially liked the second book on audio when it came to the rap lyric parts.
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson – This was my favorite social justice book of the year. Still months later this one has stuck with me, it has continued to make me think & feel things differently. Bryan Stevenson shared the stories SO incredibly well in ways that were both beautiful & heartbreaking.
28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand – My favorite summer/chick lit novel! It has been a while since I’ve really loved a book from Elin Hilderbrand & I was so glad when I finished this one and felt like it was all things I love about her books. A same time next year story line that was full of romance and of course heartache!
Truths I Never Told You by Kelly Rimmer – My favorite historical fiction. It was tragically beautiful & heartbreakingly hit close to home for me. It challenges the harsh expectations that society & culture puts on women & mothers through the years as a family story of postpartum depression unravels. I thought the emotions were expressed so well.
I just finished up my last 2 Christmas themed novels & am now on to a parenting book for now. What were your favorite reads from 2020? What are you reading now?

I loved What Kind of Woman so much too – jealous that you got your hands on some cool merch 🙂 I finally got around to reading Just Mercy in 2020 and found it so excellent. A shame it took me so long to pick it up! And I keep seeing Elin Hilderbrand pop up but still haven’t read any by her. Might have to finally do that in 2021.
Stopping by from Show Us Your Books 🙂

THUG and On the Come Up are both excellent (Concrete Rose comes out today!) as is Just Mercy.
Rechelle says
YES, looking forward to Concrete Rose – I forgot it was out soon!
Kimberly says
Also loved The Hate U Give and I wanted to read 28 Summers last year but wasn’t quite feeling like sobbing so maybe this year!
Rechelle says
Haha, I can understand not wanting to get emotional over a book when it was already a tough year!
Lauren Becker says
I still need to read The Hate U Give. But I have read and enjoyed On the Come Up.
