I love showing and telling, sharing a peek into our lives and a little look in to yours as well! This week with Andrea we’re talking about our Favorite Christmas Traditions or Recipes. I’m keeping it simple but have a little of each 😉
My favorite recipe isn’t much of a recipe at all, more just assembly. These pretzel kisses are the easiest things you’ll ever “bake”! We’ve always made them at Christmas but they certainly aren’t just for the holidays.
Grab some mini pretzel twists, M&M’s, and Hershey Hugs. Line your pretzels up on a baking sheet, unwrap your hugs and place them centered on the pretzels. Pop them in your pre-heated over at 350 for 3-5 minutes, until the center just starts to melt. Keep a close eye on them! Take them out and stick your M&M’s on top, let cool and set up (I stick them in the fridge to speed it up). That’s it!
Making these just put me in the spirit of the holidays and they are the most addictive! I have many fond memories of making these up in the kitchen of my childhood HOME with my mom and sister. Still laughing about that time when I was home from college for Christmas break and after we popped them in the oven we all got chit-chatting so much that we realized we forgot about them almost 15 minutes later! We laughed so hard that night! Seriously, good times =]
My favorite tradition is listening to Hilary Duff’s Christmas album, Santa Clause Lane. It is so old and the songs are insanely cheesy but it just reminds me of HOME and I love it so very much. I remember that my mom would have the CD playing every morning as we ate breakfast before school.
Another favorite tradition is one that was passed on to me. These red beads were always on our tree growing up. We all dreaded putting them on and taking them off, they were such a pain and hassle! Well since we’ve only had a home and been putting up our tree for 3 years its still a little bare. So I asked my mom if I could have a few strands of the red beads a few years ago, of course she gladly passed them all on lol! I don’t use all of them but seeing them in my home now puts a smile on my face.
And just for fun, a favorite tradition of my husband and I’s is chocolate advent calendars! We always look forward to my in-laws sending them to us. Each night we race to see who can find the days number first but not before we decide what the loser has to do. Usually it is who has to unplug all the Christmas lights that night, or sometimes who has to take care of dishes or another small task around the house. Its totally silly and totally fun!
