Playing catch up and documenting month one with Ronald.
Truthfully that first month was hard. It was an adjustment period. Getting used to little sleep, navigating the ways of caring for a newborn, and just all the stresses of newborn parenting. We were all learning and getting to know one another.
My mom was with us from the beginning of my induction on Monday February 11th through that Friday. Thank goodness!! She helped us get home from the hospital, picked up my prescriptions, stocked groceries, and made us dinner all that first night home. She was basically a baby whisper (she did run a daycare out of our home for 10 years) and we learned many little tips & tricks those first few days. But she also did a really good job of stepping back and letting us just figure things out on our own. So very thankful she was able to stay with us!!!
Then that Friday evening my in-laws arrived and stayed through the following Saturday. When they were originally planning their visit before the birth and bought plane tickets both my husband & I thought they were maybe coming a little late but turns out it couldn’t have been more perfect. I was truly SO grateful to have them stay with us. My husband went back to work that week but it was nice to still have help. My FIL made us every single meal and he is an excellent cook, so we ate well! My MIL took Ronald every morning after I fed him so I could get a little more sleep and then even allowed me to nap during the day. Before they left she even cleaned our house – I’m talking mopped, scrubs the toilets, and washed our bedding kind of clean. It worked out so well having them with us!
Then we were on our own and honestly it felt good to get started all on our own. But boy it hasn’t been easy either. There’s been struggles & tears alongside happiness & love of course!
In Ronald’s first month he loves being on the move. Preferring when we’re holding him that we stand, walk, dance, bounce, or swing. He’s eating well and growing more, coming in at 22in & 9lbs 3oz! With a head circumference in the 90th percentile! He’s still in newborn clothing and we’ve begun practicing tummy time too. He has had several family and friends come to visit him. Above all Ronald is so very loved!!!

Oh man, he gets cuter and cuter. Hang in there Mama, you are doing awesome!! I love the pic of the dogs all conked out on the couch- they are like, “who is this kid and how come he has turned our lives upside down?” Too funny! 🙂

That’s so great that your mom and your in-laws came and were helpful! I was always more stressed about having visitors because I didn’t know how helpful they would be!

It worked out so well thankfully!

What a great post! Over one month already! Love the picture of 2 beagle pillows, 2 live beagles, and 2 Ronald’s. All neatly in a row… lol. You’re so blessed to hv family to help but exercised boundaries. I know you and Ron are so appreciative. I can feel all the love. You’re doing great Rechelle and Ron! ❤️
