Today I’m sharing a recent one pan recipe that was a big hit in our house! I follow Shay at Mix and Match Mama and when she posted this Jalapeno Bacon Mac n Cheese a couple of weeks ago I added it to our list to try. I love Shay and her recipes, I tried many and have never had a bad one, what I love most is how you can take the base recipe and mix n match it to fit your family needs 🙂
Here is what you will need: macaroni noodles, bacon (we used our favorite, Â but Shay subs in turkey bacon, anything works!) diced jalapeno, butter, flour, milk, mustard, shredded cheese, salt and pepper.
MMMM yummy bacon frying! I chopped ours up before tossing it in the pan.
Don’t drain that delicious bacon grease, toss in your jalapeno and soak it up!
Add in your butter and flour while stirring, followed by everything else. Keep stirring as it thickens!
We had ours alongside grilled chicken wings and veggies! I froze half of this recipe and the bit we had leftover from dinner went to lunch with us the next day. Talk about bang for your buck on this one!
In true Mix and Match Mama fashion this is a great recipe! Next time I’ll use fewer jalapeno’s, not because of heat but because the flavor was strong, I wanted to taste the cheese and bacon too. I’ll also sneak in more veggies – thinking peas, carrots, and broccoli! Again what I love about Shay’s recipes is that you can tweak them to fit your needs – use organic or natural ingredients if you prefer, throw in more meat, toss in some veggies – make it your own, this is an excellent base recipe that we will be using again!
