Today I thought I’d share a little recap of our Christmas vacation to Arizona! We were gone about 10 days and Ronald did so well on both flights, I’ll share a separate post about how we handled flying ๐
We flew in to Phoenix and spent a couple days with my SIL & her husband. Walking to the library just down the road, soaking up some sun, and of course indulging in tacos!
T
hen we hit up the aquarium before heading down to Tucson which is when we learned Ro’s love for penguins is real! When we met Santa a week prior there was a little penguin scene set up that he was WAY more interested in than Santa lol. He seemed somewhat interested in the many sea life but once we came to the penguins he was in LOVE! Which is now how we’ve come to own a 2 foot stuffed penguin named Empanada ๐

e enjoyed time at Grandma & Grandpa’s, getting out for a walk & falling asleep on the way back home…rocking in the little chair that Dad & Tia Ashley grew up with…Ro LOVED the swing…and playing on the putting green in the back yard.
W
We hit up the ZOO too!
Unfortunately for Christmas we ended up at urgent care with Ro & a flu diagnosis ๐ We still had some smiles through his fevers & sickness though.
O
Of course we had to get a picture with a cactus and enjoy one last mexican meal before heading back home!

Sounds like a wonderful trip! I am so sorry to hear about the flu- I promise it will get better and he will have one of the strongest immune systems around! Can’t wait to see pics…especially of your tacos ๐

Thanks Holly!! Thankfully the flu didn’t get him down too bad & Ron and I managed to avoid it, just a bummer it hit us on Christmas. Missing those tacos right about now…

That is too cute that Ro loves penguins! I am sorry he got the flu, but he does look happy anyway!

It is so fun to see how he lights up at the sight of penguins! Thankful the flu didn’t hit us too bad at least.

Happy 2020, and weโre already 7 days in… ๐คจ. What a great trip you had, except for the flu. And the penguin love… adorable! As a kid I had a stuffed one and named it Penny (original huh). How did you come up with the name Empanada? So cute!
Rechelle says
Yes, it really was a great trip! Hehe, too funny about Penny ๐ I think it was my husband who named him Empanada…it is an Emperor penguin hence sticking with the “Emp” and having gotten him while in Tucson which has a lot of Mexican culture & food we went with Empanada (a Spanish word & food) lol
