I decided this week to stick with the wedding theme…you can see my post from Monday, winding down the weekend and the wedding we attended. So in staying with that theme today I am sharing some of the details of our wedding as we approach our anniversary. You can read through more of our story, how we met, got engaged, and more here. All professional photos shared are by our fave family photographer Lynzee 🙂
We were married September 6, 2014 and I shared some more photos on our anniversary last year that you can see here. We were engaged for almost a year and a half before our wedding so we had plenty of time to work out the details after securing our venue…though I can’t say we were completely on top of it lol. I have to thank my mom for really making sure the details of our wedding came together! She worked really hard on all the little things that made it all the more special!
When we took our engagement pictures thankfully we had just confirmed our venue and date, so I searched for ideas on what we would use for our save the dates – even though it was a ways out. We landed on a baseball theme and decided on post cards for a cost effective route!
Again, to be cost effective and because I like to get crafty, Ron designed our invitations based on a couple I found online that I liked and we made our own! It was a bit of work but with help from my mom, sister, and girlfriends we were able to get them all assembled. I of course used coupons on top of sales to get all the items needed too! 😉 The practical engineer in me just couldn’t justify the cost of a lot of wedding things, especially when it came to paper because it LITERALLY gets thrown away which is basically your money going directly in the trash, eeks! I think they turned out cute and I would absolutely do this one again.
For the ceremony we used flowers from our house, ferns from my parents house, and made the arch from PVC and fabric. Thankfully the outdoor setting made enough of a statement itself that we kept it pretty simple. Oh and the mason jars which my dad helped make filled with baby’s breath 🙂
The inside decor details were in large part due to my mom! She really helped bring my vision to life and execute it. Our parents and wedding party helped set everything up the morning of our wedding and it was SO appreciated.
I purchased the baseball bats several months ahead of time knowing that we would use them for our guest book. My mom gathered all sorts of decor pieces from her house or while thrifting that brought everything all together.
Like the card box from a vintage suitcase, love is brewing sign for the coffee bar, the display for the desserts (which other than buying pies and a cake to cut, were made by my aunt that included some of our favorite treats), the special tags for my bouquet of my Papa and our dog Murphy, the seat for Papa, the display of hankies I gathered, the centerpieces that included crochet doilies she made and pretty books tied up…
Some of my favorite little details: the boutonnieres I made from spark plugs, my hairpiece that has since been chewed up by a dog, and this simple banner “We’ve Decided On Forever” because it is a choice that we have to remember to make every single day, that is marriage after all! And I love that I still use a lot of the decor from our wedding in my everyday home decor, it makes me think of our special day almost every single day!
Thanks for reading along and allowing me a place to document our memories! 🙂
