Well, it is finally officially complete (with the exception of just a few tiny details but I just couldn’t wait to share)! The nursery for Baby M is ready & waiting, though while we are excited to meet him we don’t mind one bit if he takes just a bit longer to arrive 😉 I knew pretty quickly after we found out the gender that I wanted to do an automotive themed nursery & of course it didn’t take any work to convince my car loving hubby either! However, I also knew I wanted decor that didn’t scream “baby” so that it would last a little longer & he could grow with it.
My husband took the reins on the dresser/changing station after I showed him a couple inspiration pics from Pinterest. We bought a simple dresser from IKEA and he transformed it to look like a toolbox – just have to get the handles mounted this week. And the pegboard doubles as our diaper changing organization.
We’ve got more essentials in the top drawer, followed by extra bedding for those middle of the night blow outs, more swaddles & blankets, and then larger sized clothing in the bottom drawer. I shopped out house and pulled this basket, then made a simple liner so it functions as a little hamper.
I snagged these hats from Cash & Co. and George Hats during Black Friday sales and loved when I came up with this way to display them. I grabbed the next size up from infant knowing he’ll get more wear out of them then anyway, even if that means he won’t be able to wear them right away. So for now they look super cute! I grabbed this printable on Etsy along with the car prints hanging on the pegboard too. Shelves are actually spice racks from IKEA.
This shelving unit is from IKEA and I even picked up the plant there too! The traffic light pillow was a Target find. Then we thrifted the gas can, oil filter, tool caddy, and Michelin men. The speedometer & tachometer are actually from our personal Corvette! The various cars were either gifts or ones we bought, like these that I found here and we’re seriously OBSESSED with!
We used those same IKEA spice racks to make a little reading nook too! I’m imagining once he is older we’ll change out the rocking chair for a teepee or bean bag or some other little spot for him to read & be inspired.
This rocking chair came from the days when my mom owned & ran a daycare in our home while my sister & I were growing up. It has rocked a lot of babies! I made this little canvas from the words of one of our favorite songs/artists alongside a maternity picture – it was SO hard choosing a picture for in here!!!
We found a vintage truck grille locally for above the crib (Hubby will get it hung this week) and I’m thinking we might add a sign with Baby M’s name. The fan & one of the steering wheels came from our personal Corvette while the other one was thrifted.
The closet may look like a mess but it has actually been organized, the clothing is arranged by size and holds clothing up to 9 months. We found our cubby organizers at IKEA too. The rest of Baby M’s library is in here right next to his wall of books. All the surplus diapers & wipes along with my breastfeeding supplies are in here too. Oh and that cute doggy chair is hiding from Hal because we’re pretty certain he will destroy it thinking it is a toy lol! 😉
My favorite details are the ones that either came from my husband’s bedroom while he was growing up or the pieces we’ve been able to use from our Corvette. I think they just make it a little more personal & special <3 We’re ready for Baby Boy M!

I love it! The pegboard with diaper supplies so so smart. So are the hats as decoration. I have license plates in my son’s room – I put hooks on them so he can use them to hang things and it’s one of my favorite pieces of decor in my house!

Love ❤️ love ❤️ love the nursery! That tiny bathrobe, the stop light pillow, all the details… and the automotive details/touches. I haven’t been to IKEA in such a long time, and I have 2 stores near me.

Thank you Laurie!!! IKEA is a good hour drive from us but we made 2 trips in the last couple months, always something to find there 🙂
