Hello Monday! I am linking up with my friend Dara for this month’s installment of Not Just a Mom, sharing some healthy habits & how I keep motivated.
As far as motivation I think this really varies person to person because different things work differently for various people! For me, what works best most of the time is to just go braindead & do the dang thing lol. Instead of thinking about various things I might need or want to get done, I just stop thinking & DO. Do something, anything.
For household type tasks what works well for me is creating a simple schedule & following that. For example, Mondays are bathroom, Tuesdays are kitchen, Wednesdays are floor, etc. I just set one small task or area for each day, usually something I can get done in 30 minutes or less & I stay motivated because I know it won’t take me long and keeping up on cleaning weekly makes me feel better & keeps things easier around the house. So planning & scheduling work well for me because I tend to stick to it.
Another motivator for me is that I’ll reward myself after completing something. Even for something small, telling myself that I will enjoy a bath after or a treat or new jewelry can be enough to motivate me to get things done!
Some healthy habits I’ve created include drinking lots of water & only water all day long, I’ll occasionally have a cup of herbal tea. We don’t buy any other options for our home so the temptation simply is not there. At work I take a mug & my goal is to drink one mug-full every hour. I like this method because it also gets me up & away from my desk every hour while I’m getting my water in!
I don’t consistently “workout” partially because that just isn’t the season of life I’m in, but also because instead I look at it as trying to just be active. The dogs are big motivators/insistors on getting us outside! Of course, Ronald keeps us busy chasing after him too. I find that not putting the pressure on myself to workout keeps me feeling positive about what I am able to do.
A healthy habit that has continually evolved for me over the years has been my skincare routine! A few years ago I made it my goal to make skincare a priority. I started simple with just some cleanser & moisturizer, before that I literally never washed my face & would usually just re-wear my make-up from the day before. Once I consistently washed my face nearly single day, I started adding in more products. And once that all really became a habit I started to invest in higher quality products. I’ve been using Beautycounter for 6+ months now and LOVE IT!ย
What are some healthy habits you have & how do you keep yourself motivated?

We don’t buy anything else to drink either. Though I do like to add a Crystal light packet for some fresh sliced fruits to the water every now and then just to give me a small flavor boost now and then.
Rechelle says
Yes, sometimes it is nice to add a little boost!

I think it can be a hard habit to start but now several years in to just water, I don’t even think about it!

I love that you mentioned skin care routine! I used to think of that as a “treat” for myself, but now I’ve realized that it’s self-care which is important. I’m all about a schedule as well! Thanks so much for linking up!

Our skin is our largest organ, important to care for it too!

I definitely need to up my skin care routine. We want a dog to keep us walking, but when it’s 0 degrees I imagine I wouldn’t want to deal with it!
Rechelle says
It can be hard in the extreme cold, like right now, but usually even getting outside when it’s just normal cold lol, feels good!

I agree 100% with “go braindead and just do it!” When I overthink things I find I’ve wasted time thinking instead of doing ๐ Thanks for linking up with us!!
Rechelle says
Yes, I hate feeling like I’ve wasted that time!
