Today I am joining the Not Just a Mom link up with some of my favorite bloggers, Dara & Ashley, with a little look in to my cleaning routine!
I don’t have much structure to cleaning but this month my husband & I did decide that it may be helpful to set a little schedule – this way we know who is responsible for what & when, it helps us make sure it is getting done and we don’t have to remind one another. My husband made this color coded chart, I am sure we will adjust & fine tune it as we go through the weeks and find what fits best but this was a good start for us. We left Monday off since that is already a pre-scheduled night that my husband plays online video games with his friends and I typically take it as a night to myself as well. Weekends we will usually wash bedding & towels, then throughout the week we keep up on general things like picking up clutter & dishes.
I asked for this cleaning system for Christmas and LOVE it!! It is pet safe, baby safe, non-toxic, and both a sterilizer & disinfectant as strong as bleach. The small cleaning solution just gets added with water and then with the base it is electrically activated. Each bottle that you make lasts 14 days and the base light acts as an indicator, so it will turn yellow when it gets close to the expiration date then red once it hits 14 days. This is the only cleaning solution I use around our entire home, it cleans everything! Plus with a toddler I’m wiping down even more things lol, so I usually do go through about a bottle every 2 weeks.
For Christmas my bestie gifted me these reusable paper towels and I am OBSESSED! I keep them mostly in our kitchen since we are always cleaning up after a one year old at each meal. I love them so much that I recently ordered the llama set! I feel like they allow me to scrub better than an actual paper towel.
I’m more of a clean as you go person, I’d rather spend just a handful of minutes cleaning throughout the week than to have to clean the entire house one day on the weekend and feel like my weekend is even shorter. I do try to keep up with daily & weekly cleaning so that nothing ever gets too out of hand. What are some of your cleaning tips?

I love your color coded chart… you can’t tell you’re engineers or anything HAHAHA! I love how green you are being with the reusable paper towels and the cleaning spray… And I totally need to know more about this cleaning solution! I am so intrigued.

Haha, yes our engineer minds come out often at home 😉 Trying to make some better swaps with the products we use in our home! Force of Nature is the cleaning solution, a little investment upfront which is why I asked for it as a gift, but overall it actually saves me money because it costs less for how much is used!

I love that cleaning system! I have had “make my own reusable towels” on my crafting list for quite some time complete with snaps and all… and just keep putting it off..
Rechelle says
Thanks! I knew I could make the towels as well but figured it wouldn’t happen lol, so I went with the purchase route to just get it over with 😉 Happy to support a small business mama doing so though!

I chuckled at the 2 tone color chart – but yes, engineers. I’m home for shelter in place I’m doing most of the cleaning – a chore or 2 per day, maybe a load of laundry per day. Some weeks the laundry load multiplies, and there only 2 humans and 1 dog here! Will your engineering minds please do the math!.
Rechelle says
Hehe! Oh the laundry is a mystery! Just adding one tiny human tripled the loads of laundry I do in a week, I do not understand it lol

I like to get the cleaning done in one chunk of time once a week, if possible!
Rechelle says
If I could do it all on a weekday I would prefer that too! Since I would rather not sacrifice a weekend to cleaning though I just try to chip away at it each night after Ro goes to bed.

Lol, thanks! We keep it simple, not trying to win any cleaning awards over here 😉
