I’m joining in for another Ladies Who Link with Mommy in a Nutshell, A Gal Named Al, Pink Lady, Coast to Coast, and Moms’ Coffee Date! This month we’re talking summer plans, recipes, and activities. You can see last month’s post here!
Our summer plans include a visit from my husband’s family, his parents and sister and brother in law will be up from AZ for the first week in July. Which is perfect since my husband gets that week off from work and I’ll be taking it off as well! We’ve got a trip to Mackinac Island planned with them too π Of course we’ll be taking our annual anniversary trip to another ballpark this September as well! Plus we have one wedding this weekend and 2 more this summer!
During the summer we LOVE to use our smoker and grill as much as possible! Ron has smoked a whole chicken, pork shoulder, ribs, brisket, etc. – I think my favorite has been ribs! For Thanksgiving he also always smokes our Turkey, YUM! We also enjoy making individual pizzas on the grill, its fun, easy, and pretty quick. The personal pizzas also worked out really well when guests are over because everyone can make it their own and be happy. I like to keep this dough stocked in the freezer! And last year I made a blueberry crisp with fruit from the local farmer’s market, I can’t wait to make it again along with other fresh fruit recipes!
Our activities this summer will consist mostly of finishing up the Vette so that hopefully we can enjoy a few rides this year! We also usually play catch with a baseball, go on our favorite family adventures on the trails behind our local library, and you know I’ll be tending to my garden/flowers! Honestly probably my absolute favorite thing about summer is sitting on my deck, with a good book and my boys surrounding me. Hank usually joins me in my chair, Ron sometimes plays the guitar and one of us is throwing a ball for Hal – it is simply the best!
What do you have going on this summer? What are you most looking forward to?

Ok! You need to share that recipe for the dessert- looks like some type of crumble and looks delish! π
Rechelle says
Yes Holly it was VERY GOOD! It’s actually from Shauna Niequist’s book, Bread & Wine, SO easy too! I found someone post the recipe here: http://www.dinneralovestory.com/shauna-niequists-blueberry-crisp/

Y’all are too cute. What a fun summer you have planned and my husband and son would be drooling over your vette. Happy Summer and thanks for joining us!!!

Thanks Lisa! The Vette was definitely a dream turned reality for my husband, we’ve had so much fun working on it together and look forward to enjoying it for MANY years π

Thank goodness my husband doesn’t blog or else we’d have a new hobby added to our house- building cars! Super cool! Love that you guys hit up different ballparks- my Popo was a baseball player, and I loved going to Cooperstown one summer with him and my Nana. Thanks for linking up!
Rechelle says
Thanks Allie π This has been my husband’s dream car since he was 12, so I knew before we were even married that we’d eventually have this car π Love that your Popo was a baseball player, the sport has such great history and stories – I enjoy hearing how people connect to it. Happy Friday!
