Today for the first time I am joining in for Ladies Who Link with A Gal Named Al, Mom’s Coffee Date, Coast to Coast, Mommy in A Nutshell, and Pink Lady to discuss our Memorial Day plans and how we’re kicking off summer!
We always spend Memorial Day weekend in my little hometown. Its a fab long weekend spent with family living the small town life (seriously the photo below shows just about the whole village)!
We take the days slow, cook out and enjoy our meals, Ron gets his fill of moped rides around town, Hank and Hal get their fix of sniffing all the new scents, and I just get to be home with my people.
There are lots of festivities all weekend long and is there really any better way to kick off summer than a weekend of eating elephant ears?! There are usually softball games, fair food, karaoke, tractor pulls, soap box derby races, and of course a parade!
We’ve got a few plans for summer with family and friends but probably the biggest is getting the Vette finished. There are a couple weddings we’ll be attending and we also typically take a vacation for our anniversary, so I’m excited to get started on planning that!
How do you spend your Memorial Day weekend and kick off summer?

My parents are from small towns and I always loved visiting and how everyone knew each other. My son just graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree a week and a half ago…Go ENGINEERS!!! 😉
Yes, I love how everyone knows everyone too in small towns! Congrats to your son on graduating, best wishes to him! I’m an Industrial Engineer and my husband is also a Mechanical Engineer – woohooo!
