Happy Valentine’s Day loves! Today I am linking up with Shay & Erika to share how we take care of ourselves. First, in case you missed it I shared my Valentine’s Decor here and some small Galentine’s I put together for my girlfriends here that you could still whip up today for the fave ladies in your life!
I think it is SO important to take care of & love yourself first before you can do the same for others, if you’re not at your best then you won’t be able to give your best either.
A little over a year ago I decided it was time for me to commit to a skin care routine and it has been one of my favorites. I enjoy the few minutes at the start & end of the day where I’m taking care of just me! It just makes me feel good, you can see my beauty routine here 🙂
Something else I quite enjoy is reading! Creating a reading goal has motivated me to read more, having those moments and getting to indulge in a good book just makes me happy. I can’t say that I always get quiet time when reading (#beagles) but these moments always make my heart HAPPY!
I think the biggest thing that I’ve done for self care has been investing time into devotionals recently. I’ve been using The Bible App since October and have it set to send notifications to my phone every day at 7:30a with a Verse of the day, I’ve found this is such an encouraging way to start my morning. I also have done several devotionals through the app and typically read through those on my ride into work in the morning, again starting my day in this way has just had a really positive impact!
I also purchased this journaling devotional last year and try to use it a couple times a week, usually this is something I’ll do in the evenings. I am not a super religious person and I don’t at all regularly attend church but I do believe I have a strong faith. As an adult I’ve kind of created my own religion and beliefs and go with those. I’ve found that I choose to interpret many of these religious books in my own way but the bottom line is they provide inspiration, they’re uplifting & encouraging, and they’re positive – all of which are things I strive for in life!
Ultimately the biggest thing I’ve learned in my self care has been grace. Giving myself a little grace when I can’t and don’t get all the things done, when the house is a mess, when we run out of milk, or when I just feel less than. Giving myself grace allows me to let go of those things that tend to stress me out and as a result grace allows me to choose happiness – the best self care you can get 😉 Though just to be clear, I’m not perfect and these things don’t always come easily to me, I do have to make the conscious decision to follow through on them and sometimes it doesn’t always happen.
Have you taken time for yourself today? What does self care look like for you?

Love that devotional journal- may need to pick one up. Started with the daily devotionals a few years back but the journal may be a good way to take it up a notch!

Yes, I love the devotional journal! It is a really great way to make me actually think about the topics from the devotional and put some words to them – I also enjoy being able to look back on what I wrote 🙂

It’s been a while since I’ve used the Bible app but I am trying to get back to it. Great ideas!

Thanks Jaclyn, I am newer to the app but have really enjoyed it so far!
