Hello Monday morning!!! Over the weekend I spent some time cleaning out and purging around our bedroom. It felt SO good! In doing so though I also came across a small stack of some special cards that I’ve kept. I think they were probably in my bedroom at my parents that I had brought home to my house but didn’t properly get them to where I keep all my other special cards & letters. I never intentionally kept cards or letters for any particular reason but I am so glad I did and now I make a point to! I usually assess what the card was for and if there was a special note included to help me decide if it is a keeper. But I love having these now because flipping through them helps bring back the memories of the moment or occasion in which it was received.
I’ve kept nearly every card that my husband and I have exchanged as well – I’ll have to go through them and put together a post sharing some of my favorites! I love looking back on them and seeing how our relationship has grown π These were in the pile I found this weekend and were from our first year together!
This stack I came across this weekend was especially dear to me because it included cards from my grandparents, both of whom have since passed away. Seeing their handwriting and the little details certainly brought on many emotions and there were tears in my eyes. Mostly though I was happy, happy to have the memories and little cards to treasure forever!
My Papa always ended every convo with us grandkids in Love You More! Of course sometimes we’d go back & forth, “No, I love you more.” I moved into college just a couple days before my 18th birthday and celebrated with family before I left, this was the last birthday card I received from my Papa actually. I SO wish he could have seen me graduate, I’ve never known someone to be more proud to have a grandkid that was going to be an engineer! I LOVE him so but I do believe maybe he did love me more <3
My Gma ALWAYS dated every single card ever and I love that! Seriously need to start doing the same so in 20 years I’ll still remember π I have the last Christmas card she gave us too and pulling it out this past Christmas for the first one without her seriously made my heart so happy.
Also in the little stack I found was a card from my Dad when my family moved me into college for the first time. WHOA that brought on the tears too! Honestly I am so happy and love life right now, but oh how I’d love to use a rewind button to stay home just a little longer – when I moved out I don’t think I realized that it was the last time I’d truly ever live at home, I certainly took it for granted!
Do you keep special cards or letters?

I have kept a lot of cards for my kids and I have some letters written to me when I was a kid! I don’t really receive special cards anymore though!

Awe that is so sweet Dara! I wish I had more from when I was a kid π

Happy Daylight Savings Monday (unless you’re in AZ or HI)! I recently sorted through a huge pile of cards so shrink the stack. I saved the milestone ones – but one of my favorite ones is one my mom sent for my birthday in 2016. It was a generic birthday card; what made it special was that she sent my dad to the mailbox down the block to mail it, and he covered the envelope with lots of smiley face stickers! I called her about this, and she had no idea what he did… I treasure that envelope… totally my dad’s style.
