Friday Favorites: Ro is 2! - Our Home with Hounds

Linking up today with Andrea & Erika to share my favorites of the week, which mostly include my sweet Ro turning TWO yesterday!

Happiest 2nd Birthday to my Ro!!! <3 I’ll forever be thankful for all the extra time we had at home together in the last year. Watching you really come into your own & truly blossom. From crawling to walking and now always go go go. Your vocabulary has exploded and we’re always blown away to find the new words you say, sing, or understand. You love grandma’s chickens, we hope to get some of our own soon enough, farm animals in general are your favorite. Your learning tower has been an ultimate favorite in fostering your independence as you help with meal times, dishes, washing up on your own, and just generally being closer to our level. You enjoy coloring & reading as well as building blocks and figuring out how things work, doing them over & over & over & over again. Race cars are a big favorite as we play hotwheels & make tracks daily, you also very much like to ask to watch racecars on TV. Your imaginative play is just starting to take off and it has been so cool to see. And your lovely hedgies, well mostly baby hedgie, have become your sidekicks, as you take them everywhere you go <3

Something I think we don’t do enough as parents is take credit & recognize what we’ve accomplished since the birth of a child too. For me, today marks 2 years of being a mother – thrown in to mothering immediately following post-delivery traumas, mothering through PMD, mothering amidst a global pandemic. Today marks 2 years of breastfeeding as well, continuing our extended breastfeeding through almost 8 months of pregnancy now, through it’s pain & aversions. I thank & praise my body for acting as a home currently to 3 human beings as it provides nourishment for each of us – growing a precious baby inside me, growing the sweet toddler beside me, and sustaining myself too. I could have never imagined this journey through motherhood, forever in awe by it and doing my best to appreciate it for all that it is.

Of course I have to praise my favorite person too, my husband, the best human being I know. Ron is an incredible hands on parent, always stepping up to his half of responsibility, offers encouragement & support to me, and loves our family fiercely. He’s worked hard on projects in our new home even though I know he is dying to do his own personal projects, he prioritizes getting things done for us first. And he’s even taken over being the main cook of our home!

This week Ro & I baked cupcakes for him to take to daycare & for his party tomorrow. Then another night we made frosting, I frosted while he put on sprinkles & stuck in the decorative picks.

I blew up a few balloons & we set out a couple gifts for Ronald to open yesterday morning. He has not really loved us singing to him and even tells us to stop sometimes lol, but the presents he was all in for those & kept asking for more to open! We gave him another gift last night after dinner to open & play with.

Over last weekend I split up & repotted a few snake plants to put around the house. I love all the natural light we get in practically every single room which allows me to put plants around easily 🙂 I always wanted plants in our bedroom at our previous home but we did not get good sunlight there at all, in our new bedroom we get ALLLLLL the sunlight!

Ronald’s imaginative play is starting to develop & it has been so fun to watch him play with these little snowmen figurines & car. He’ll name one mommy or daddy & another bubby, they’ll open/close doors and say bye or hi or miss you to one another.
