Project 52, weeks 34 & 35
Now that we’re settled back at home I thought I’d share more details of our weekend getaway to KC:
Bright and early Friday morning we were off for the airport! We arrived in KC & picked up our rental car and were on our way for the weekend. We wasted no time finding some BBQ!
We actually headed to Columbia, MO first as we had bought tickets for a concert Friday night (that unfortunately was canceled due to the lead singer having kidney stones – but luckily they announced a new tour & will actually be in MI in November so we promptly bought new tickets) We had already bought tickets to visit Warm Springs Ranch just outside Columbia, where the Budweiser Clydesdales are bred!
The ranch was beautiful, the tour fantastic, and the horses just incredible! Plus at least one of us got to indulge in a couple free beers π
Saturday we headed back to Kansas City, hit up the Negro League Baseball Museum, American Jazz Museum, and a Royals game! Of course we grabbed a donut from a little place called Harold’s to supplement our breakfast and they graciously gave us plenty of their stickers after we told them we have a dog named Harold π Oh and we stopped by the library too of course!
On Sunday we strolled City Market which was near our AirBnb then after grabbing breakfast we headed out to see the Harry Truman Presidential Library.
Finally, on Monday we wrapped up with an incredibly awesome tour of a local coffee company, The Roasterie. As well as a visit to Union Station and the National WWI Museum. Then we walked around the Country Club Plaza and enjoyed spotting various fountains, before killing some time at an arcade, and then getting dinner at a nice Italian place with some really great food & dessert to round out our anniversary celebration!
We really enjoyed our weekend in Kansas City!
