It has been a while, joining to link up for Friday Favorites with Andrea!Β
Last week I was consumed by listening, reading, and just generally educating myself, I shared a little bit of that in my post on Wednesday. I didn’t feel right to share anything last week and posting this week I was nervous as well to not say the wrong thing, that is kind of the point though, this is supposed to be uncomfortable and we need to be more mindful of our words & actions, and at the same time we have to keep going.
Some close friends had their second baby girl on Memorial Day so we recently made food to drop off to them, Ro was the best little banana bread helper! I made a big pot of goulash and kept some for ourselves so that I didn’t have to cook a second dinner that day. I also made chocolate chip cookie bars, banana bread muffins, and pancakes for the freezer, plus we added frozen hash browns & sausage links. It sounds like a lot but everything came together pretty easily!
This cheesy morning face is a favorite! I have absolutely LOVED getting to have more time together in the mornings during the week since we’ve been working from home (for 3 months now, 14 weeks, WOW).Β
We spend as much time as possible outside these days and I think it is everyone’s favorite! After our walk one evening Hank was whipped and Ro could not be bothered with bottoms as he felt the need to cool off in his splash pad lol!
This series of photos is a recent FAVE <3 Ro was gifted this handmade elephant for his birthday and he adores it!
We’re still very much obsessed with the lawn mower! Every single time Ro hears a lawn mower he says Hi Dada, even when it is the neighbors mowing haha. Ron took his time & let Ro ride along for a portion one afternoon that was in a mostly shaded area, what kills me is that Ro is SO SERIOUS through it all but I assure you he loves it.
As usual there has been some chaos with the dogs! Ron built a ramp for our bed so that the dogs could easily get on the bed, McGruff is a pro at using it & Hal freezes up even though he struggles sometimes to jump up on the bed on his own he has refused to use the ramp so far no matter how many times we show him. McGruff had a lump on his neck that appeared pretty quickly, we got it checked out at the Vet & scheduled to have it removed as a benign tumor. The surgery should have been yesterday yet somehow it crazily went away on its own and we cancelled the surgery this week! It went away just as quickly as it came on, so odd. Hank killed a squirrel in our yard, we didn’t see him get it but when I was out in the yard I came across it. Ron tossed it over the fence, and a couple days later Hank had escaped our yard & was on the other side of the fence back for another round with that squirrel lol! Now Hank is in a little rough shape with some sores & minor infection on his neck, he scratched & itched himself too much that it just quickly spread, so he is on a few meds to control that. PHEW, always something with the dogs! On the whole each of them are doing well though!
I shared this sentiment & below photo with friends and wanted to share it here too, mostly as a reminder for myself…Ro poured out bubbles then drew in the mess with chalk, and then crawled through all of it while I was trying to type out & send this picture. I cringe often throughout the day while working hard to intentionally say yes as much as possible. Even when it means more for me to clean up. Because really he’s hurting nothing, he is simply exploring, growing, learning. I try to let him teach me instead of the other way around. And now he is eating the bubble wand, I said sure why not, if it makes him happy! #YesMom
I made Hot Chocolate Ice Cream recently and it has been sooooo good!!
Another #YesMom moment, Ro was literally having the time of his life dumping out a few hundred pom poms & then falling back onto the bed pillows! It was pure joy for both of us <3
He is so good at brushing his teeth! Of course I follow up & actually brush his teeth, I love that he has picked up on what to do & knows what he is doing.
And just some chatter to round out the week, he really does love the lawn mower!

Oh, friend, I am so with you on trying reeeeally hard to be a “yes” mom instead of trying to avoid the mess. Messes mean memories (but just make me cringe so much!!). Ro is still as cute as ever!
