This is my last week of maternity leave as I head back to work on Monday so I’ve been trying to enjoy these last days home with Ronald as much as possible! I thought I’d share some of our favorite products that have gotten us through these first 12 weeks…
Pack N Play – This is what Ronald has slept in every single night in our room. We actually never even used the napper/changer attachment, he just sleeps with the mattress raised up right now. For the first couple weeks we would move this from our bedroom at night to our living room during the day. It works great if you’ve got the room and will be perfect to travel with us when we visit family/friends and as he grows too!
SwaddleMe Swaddles – These things have worked wonders for nighttime sleep! They stay velcroed well and are a good weight for keeping him warm. During the day we just use muslin swaddles for naps but he tends to find a way to bust his hands out 😉
Receiving blankets – These blankets have gotten so incredibly soft with each time they are washed!!! We actually use these as burp cloths. I don’t know why actual burp cloths are so tiny because they rarely work well at catching everything…If we put Ronald over our shoulder to burp and he spits up it would roll down the burp cloth and end up on our back, arm, chair, or couch…these blankets catch it all with the extra length. Plus, again they are SOFT!
Avent Bottles – I am breastfeeding but around 6 weeks we started having my husband offer a bottle every couple days and Ronald took to these best! Even with the smallest size 0 nipple he still can suck them down quite fast compared to how long it will take him to nurse sometimes.
Nuk Pacifiers – We happened to have a set of these from our shower along with a few Avent Soothers, both of which Ronald will take but he just seems to do better with the Nuks. Plus we absolutely love that one of our Nuks glows in the dark, makes finding it in the middle of the night super easy!
Sound Machine – We actually didn’t introduce this until probably around 8 weeks and Ronald was doing just fine without it. We decided to purchase it to add to our bedtime routine to better signal to him that we were getting ready for bed. It also works well during the day for naps to drown out the beags when they bark at the mailman 😉
Zipper Footed PJs – Zipper PJs make middle of the night diaper changes SO easy! I can can Ronald in the dark, only briefly turning on a nightlight for less than 30 seconds to swap out his diaper because zipper PJs make it easy to just do up by feel in the dark. I am especially partial to the ones with animals on the feet or butt hehe
Carseat & Stroller – My husband did a lot of research on carseats and safety which landed us with this one…We also looked into a lot of strollers and tested out several in stores. We were shocked how heavy & flimsy so many of the major brands were!! This one was pricey but it should last us, right now it is super easy to just attach his carseat, then we’ll transit to the regular seat once he can sit up on his own, eventually we can add another seat too to make it a double stroller. I take our stroller grocery shopping and have had no problem fitting all our groceries in the bottom since it is so spacious!

What great baby items! I remember giving my niece a Nuk nippled bottle – that’s all she would drink from. So cool that they glow in the dark! Ronald is getting so big! Such a cutie.

It is funny how particular babies can be about the different bottles & pacifiers!

Thank you so much Holly! We’re expecting it to be a little rough transition but know it is the best in the long run!

I loved velcro swaddle blankets. I didn’t have them for my older kids but with Simon they worked great!
