Earlier this month I shared that a planner was one of the things I could not live without. I thought I’d dig a little deeper and show you how I use my planner.
These are some of my old planners from college. You can see I included due dates and test dates as well as when I planned to work on those things. I also had social events penned in. I am an alumna of Alpha Phi Fraternity and held positions within my chapter, so I kept pretty busy between school and Greek Life!
Now-a-days my planner looks a little less busy. I’m still involved with Alpha Phi as an advisor, I like to keep those events in my planner so that when I am available I can attend. Otherwise I note things that my husband and I might be doing as well as meal plan.
You can see that I don’t get real fancy, its all pretty simple. I use any ‘ol pen I have so it isn’t even really color coordinated. I’d love to do the pretty pens, colors, and stickers but #priorities. I do try to be consistent in where I write things for each date though, for example meal planning is always in the bottom left of the date.
It is really nice to be able to look back and see what we were up to in previous years. It is also really helpful to be able to look back on meal plans. I can see what we’ve been eating so as to not repeat meals too often and I can look back on some meals that we may have forgotten about but really liked!
My favorite planners come from May Designs! I was late getting one at the first of this year and ended up picking my current one up from Target. It works but I LOVE using May Designs. They are lightweight and compact which makes carrying them with me everywhere really easy. They did just launch 2 new notebook sizes so even if you prefer something smaller or larger they have those too! I will not be forgetting to order my 2017 May Designs planner this year, you can be sure of that! I’ve also heard great things about Erin Condren and Simplified planners but those are just too big and bulky for me since I like to carry mine with me everyday just about everywhere.
Do you use a planner? Or meal plan? What works for you?

I use a planner for my work stuff, and just a plan spiral notebook for home/personal stuff. I really want to get a nice planner though and jazz it up a little! My plain notebook gets the job done but it’s a little boring! Some great inspiration here! 🙂
