HOORAY for Friday! We’re headed to a wedding tomorrow and then off for a week celebrating our 3rd anniversary! I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci as usual to share a couple favorites from the week as well as for Carpool Book Club to share the books I’ve read this month!
Project 52, Week 34
Last weekend we attended Red Dress Gala, a fundraiser hosted by my sorority for women’s heart health. We had a really good time with great friends!
Last month I shared the first box we received in our Mini Monthly DOG Box of Awesome so I thought I’d follow up with this month’s box as well, it is $9.99 for the subscription of 3-4 items. I was really impressed with this box and it for sure kept me wanting to stick with the subscription!
This is what Hank & Hal received: a lamb with squeakers ($7.99), Fetch It! Sticks Cheese & Carob ($1.75), and I’d Rather Be With My Dog Rabbit Bites ($9.99). The value of this box was covered by the treat bites alone so we basically got a toy and the treat sticks for FREE, which when my dogs go through treats and toys like they do I call that a major WIN!
Now on to my book review for August 🙂
I was selected to be on the launch team for Church of the Small Things by Melanie Shankle and was so excited! I made myself finish the library books I already had checked out for July but jumped into this one IMMEDIATELY upon finishing! I’ll be writing a whole blog post dedicated to the book later this month and a full review when the book launches. However, I will say I have read a few of Melanie Shankle’s other books (The Antelope in the Living Room & Nobody’s Cuter Than You) and think this might be my favorite! Just as the title says it is all about appreciating the little things in life and how those things will benefit and fulfill your life more than you think the big things might.
These are some of my favorite excerpts to show you just how good this book truly is! To pre-order your copy you can go here, and check our those pre-order goodies too!!! Also, if you haven’t already get her other books now to read while you wait (see links above), I’ll be re-reading The Antelope in the Living Room this month as well I think 🙂
Next up I read Letters to My Daughters: The Art of Being A Wife by Barbara Rainey. The first couple chapters I was a little hesitant, unsure of how to feel or what I thought of the content. Though the more I read the more I really enjoyed this book! It is religious based but I really didn’t think that took away from the message, I chose to interpret some of the things maybe slightly differently but still felt I was really gaining from what Barbara shared. This book is a good read for all – newlyweds or those celebrating 25+ years, struggling marriages or strong marriages. While I do feel that Ron and I do most of the things that are encouraged in this book, so it wasn’t completely new, it was a really good reminder for me and it provoked even better discussions between the two of us. This is a book I want to share with all my friends!
I’m just about halfway through Elin Hilderbrand’s newest book, The Identicals, and I am loving it! It had been a month or two since I’ve read a Hilderbrand novel and it just feels like home, I LOVE her books! I’ll be sure to review this one next month 🙂
