Today we head out for our anniversary trip to Pittsburgh, PA! Of course I’ll be sharing the details after we return next week and so today I thought I’d share our honeymoon and anniversary trip from 2014 & 2015.
We honeymooned to Washington D.C. for a week after our wedding. It was FAB! We’re pretty casual, easy to please type people and have found we aren’t really the couple that wants to just lay on a beach. We like to get out, do, see, and experience all sorts of things. D.C. was perfect for that!
Obviously the museums were amazing and we beyond expanded our knowledge. I think my absolute favorite moment was seeing the Star Spangled Banner – honestly it gave me goosebumps and I was brought to tears. I realize it sounds corny but there really is no way to explain it other than to experience it yourself.
My second favorite moment was on the hottest and most humid day when my husband got us lost in the woods. Okay, so maybe that wasn’t exactly how it went down 😉 We had decided we wanted BBQ for dinner and the nearest metro station was out-of-the-way so we thought it would be easier/quicker to just walk through this park…turns out the park was wooded, so we went on a little adventure!
We caught a Washington Nationals game and made a quick trip to Baltimore to see the Orioles too! Thus our baseball tradition was born. We are trying to visit a different ballpark each year for our anniversary, we’ll see if we can keep up!
Our first anniversary was spent in Chicago , we did the typical touristy stuff like The Bean and Navy Pier. And we made it to historic Wrigley Field to see the Cubs beat our Arizona Diamondbacks! We also witnessed the longest MLB home run hit of the year. It was a fun little get-a-way weekend!
Do you have any big holiday weekend plans? Happy Friday and stay safe friends 🙂
