We made the trip to Pittsburgh after work on Friday and arrived to our AirBnB late that night. After a little unpacking we called it a night and headed to rest up for our weekend adventure!
Saturday morning we were up and at ’em! We stayed near the Strip District, which is a hopping place of shops, grocery stores, food vendors, & restaurants most of which are in old warehouse buildings. So we hit up Pamela’s Diner, one of the highest rated breakfast joints. It did not disappoint! To die for crepes/pancakes! I got croissant french toast while my husband got blueberry stuffed hotcakes, SO GOOD!
We strolled around the strip and found a few goodies while making our way downtown to the Heinz Museum. Which yes, obviously it had plenty of Heinz products on display but the museum really focused on western PA history. Did you know Mr. Rogers was from the Pittsburgh area? They had a big display of items from the set!
After the museum we found a meatball place for lunch. There are no words for how good this was! We got 2 buffalo chicken balls, 1 beef, and 1 spicy pork with buffalo ranch sauce and cheese sauce served on top of tater tots. This may have been my favorite meal.
After we were thoroughly stuffed we walked down to the point where the 3 rivers converge and just sat for a bit observing and taking in the lovely weather.
Then we hit up the Pirates game that night. PNC Park was so nice and there was a lot happening around the park before game time! This view was amazing!
Sunday we headed back down to the strip for breakfast, we picked up a couple drinks and some croissants and were on our way. We took a Lyft to Carnegie Science Center, all the walking from the day before had us tired and sore. It was a nice museum and we learned a bit, but what was really cool was the submarine that we got to tour outside and talk to a gentleman that worked and lived on a sub for extended periods of time, I believe he said his longest tour was 5 years! We also stopped at the sports museum right next door and it was really cool too.
We worked our way back across the river and rented a couple bikes to get back to our place. After getting cleaned up we drove over to the base of Mt. Washington to ride the inclines! SPECTACULAR VIEWS!!! So very cool and a lot of fun! Then we drove to dinner downtown for our anniversary and enjoyed excellent pasta.
Monday we hit up another top rated breakfast joint, Deluca’s and again it was great. We sat at the bar and it was so neat to see the teamwork as the place was crazy busy, we got there just before a line out the door and down the sidewalk started to form.
Then we headed home to our crazy beagle boys! It was a great weekend spent with my love, celebrating us!
