The love shared between father and daughter is certainly special and I’d say it gets even more special with each passing year.
Over the years my dad has been a lot of things to me. When I was little I followed him around and like most kids, copying everything he did. Even peeing outside behind the lilac bush and telling my mom “It’s okay mom, daddy do’s it all the time.”
Through elementary he was the coolest guy around and the best days were when he was drove me to school in his big truck. Of course he is still pretty cool now!
Through middle and high school he scared the living crap out of everyone I knew. Any boys I was possibly interested in were terrified and even my friends were intimidated by him.
But growing up is kind of funny and I’ve gotten to appreciate my dad in completely new ways as I get older too. He is one of the kindest men I know, with a heart bigger than I could have imagined. He is down right hilarious and has the absolute best one liners ever! For example, “I could eat the ass end out of a porcupine.”
What has been truly amazing and more rewarding than I could have ever expected is seeing the relationship between my father and husband. They get along so well and have some of the best times together, mostly tinkering on things in the pole barn.
I know just by the way he looks at me that in my dad’s eyes he still sees his little Chelle. I know by the way he hugs me how incredibly proud he is of me. And I know by the way he gives that he still wishes he could give me more. But what I hope he knows is that he has given me more than I could ever want, I’m just as proud of him, and that when I look at him he’ll always be my good-looking, funny, strong, and loving Dad. Oh and for some reason I always envision him being about 30, so there is that hehe.
Happy Birthday Dad, I love you!
