A couple weeks ago I picked up a few things during my weekly grocery trip to make some really inexpensive and easy DIY decor pieces. I grabbed a couple bags of split peas (they were only $1 each!), a bag of rolos (though I think I need one more since my hubby keeps eating them), and a couple packages of knock-off mint Oreo’s. I filled some apothecary jars and called it a day 🙂

Usually I fill my jars with pinecones, feathers or cheap ornaments. This was my first time using food and I loved it! Especially for the kitchen! So now I’m keeping an open mind and thinking about what I can fill them with in the coming seasons and holidays.

I also put together a front door hanger with some things that I already had. Nothing too fancy but just a nice little touch to add to our front door. The little welcome sign was a clearance item from last year but it was too plain on its own, so I rounded up my green ribbon and made a sweet backdrop to go with it. This was seriously so EASY, took me less than 5 minutes to throw together and I can make something similar for each holiday/season.
