I recently wore this dress to a wedding but not before I did a quick fix on it.
I bought it off Zuilily(http://www.zulily.com/ invite/rewalt708) and the dress was just slightly too big in the top. A common problem I have since I typically need a larger size for my bottom…The brand is Matilda Jane, a new to me brand that I’ve really fallen in love with. It has proven to be extremely high quality and incredibly beautiful!
I hated to return the dress so I set out to fix the problem myself!
First I tried on the dress inside out. Then I just pulled it in and drew a line where I felt would be a good place for the new seam. After doing this on one side I added in pins along the line I drew. Then I did the same thing on the other side.
I pulled out the pins and took the dress back off. I tidied up my lines as necessary to make sure they were even and straight. Then I just sewed down each side, basically from the armpit to the waist.
Nothing real fancy or precise, but it worked and got the job done! Also of note, I did not rip out the previous seams. They are not noticeable while wearing the dress and I figured this way I can always let the bodice back out if needed in the future 😉
