Hi there! I am bringing you another collaborative post,

Dogs can talk of course. Not in the Hollywood movie kind of way, but they do communicate in their own fashion, be that through their puppy dog eyes or the way they bark to get your attention. Still, we are letting our imaginations go a little bit wild today, and while the following are probably indicative of why they bark at you, we are putting a few words into their canine mouths. So, if dogs could talk (in the English language), here are five things we think they would like to say to you.
Doggie Talk #1: Put your book down and give me some attention
Dogs love attention. You are their best friend after all, so how dare you busy yourself with something that doesn’t involve them. Whether you are in the middle of your favourite book or watching something on the tv, your dog wants you to focus on them, for a little bit of playtime or a tickle and a cuddle. They love you, so return some of that love back to them.
Doggie Talk #2: You’re home at last! I have missed you so much
You may have only been out a few minutes, but it’s a lifetime for your dog. No wonder your neighbours complain so much about your dog whining and crying until your return. To be left alone for any period of time is painful for your dog, such is their craving for love and companionship. If you are going out for an extended period, do your dog a favour and take them with you, if at all possible. Or, at the very least, ask a friend or neighbour (if you are still on speaking terms after the whining) to pop in on them and give them a little bit of company.
Doggie Talk #3: Give me food, give me food, give me food (ad infinitum)
Dogs love to eat. You know it, we know it, and they definitely know it. Their own food isn’t good enough for them, of course. As soon as they have they finished off their tasty morsels, they are then looking for any other titbits of food you can throw at them. You need to be careful, however. Certain foods are dangerous for dogs, including chocolates and salty foods, so don’t be tempted to feed them, no matter how much they look up at you with pleading eyes. You need to focus on healthy snacks between meals, such as these pill treats for dogs, instead of any leftovers or goodies you might have on your own dinner plate.
Doggie Talk #4: Get your coat on, I want to go outside. Now!
Despite the busy day you have had, you do need to grab that lead and give your dog the opportunity to stretch his legs. Not only are you doing his health a favour, but a good walk won’t do you any harm, either. Dogs love the fresh air and relish the opportunity to explore the world when you get them out of the house. There are so many things to see, smell and do, but despite the overload to the senses, your dog will also relish the extra time they are spending with you.
Doggie Talk #5: I’m sorry! Please forgive me! Please, please, please!
None of us are perfect, and your dog is no exception. There will be times when you put him in the doghouse (literally and metaphorically) after they have done something you don’t approve of. They may have had an accident in the kitchen, chewed up one of your cushions, or scared the life out of the cat next door. Some of their behaviour is natural (such as chasing poor kitty), but others fall within the remit of behaviour problems. You need to get on top of them and teach your dog some kindly discipline, but whatever you do, don’t leave them in the doghouse too long. They are sorry and they are desperate for you to forgive them.
Final woof
A word from your dog…
“Thank you for reading this article. I hope it has given you everything you need to know about my needs, hopes and dreams. Now, stop reading, my food dish won’t fill itself, and then go and fetch my ball. We have a long walk ahead of us, and you’d be barking mad to miss it!”

Hi Rechelle – I loved this post! My Daisy dog could easily “say” all of these things to me, on repeat. #1 about wanting attention – Daisy would stand on my foot or plop or top of me so the attention is on her. #4 about going on a walk can be edited to “I have my coat on already; why do you need so many layers and shoes?! Let’s go now! (And stomps paws 🐾)”. You have to love our dogs!
