First up, as usual is my Project 52, week 24 layout!
We hit up a Tigers game on Saturday with my family and it was just perfect for a kick off to summer! Read my Wind Down the Weekend post from Monday here.
Last Friday we also attended a wedding of a good friend of mine and it was just perfect! This was our first of 3 weddings for the year, our next is in August and then one more in September. I love weddings simply because I love LOVE, I almost always cry and it just reminds me how sweet marriage really is <3 Plus the bride and groom used the same officiant that we did and it was just nice to hear him again 🙂
Of course these 2 are ALWAYS MY FAVORITE! These were from the 1st day of Summer on Wednesday, we spent the evening on our back deck and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Celebrating ONE YEAR of Our Home With Hounds Giveaway! One year ago earlier this week I celebrated the launch of this blog, you can read my post from Wednesday here and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom! I’m so happy to have joined this blogging community 🙂
Hello Monday, hello to a new week! I’ll be linking up with Andrea for her Show & Tell topics again in 2017, first up is all about how our family saves and what we feel is worth a little splurge!
I LOVE to save a little money, I think I probably save much more than I splurge which is a good thing! I try my best to meal plan for a week at a time, I actually just meal planned for 2 weeks (we just started in on week 2). I believe that meal planning helps me stick to a budget, stay healthy by not eating out, and save because I plan with leftovers in mind to pack for lunch. When I sit down to meal plan I also take a look at current sales and use those to my advantage. That way I’m planning meals around items that I can save more money on and get a better bang for my buck!
Another big help I use is coupon and discount apps! We grocery shop mostly at Kroger so I’ll browse and “clip” any deals they have online/on my app – I’ll keep these in mind for when I’m meal planning too of course. I LOVE Target’s Cartwheel app and always keep my deals up to date on that. I also really love to browse the clearance racks at Target, I almost never buy anything full price in that store, I’d rather wait for it to go on clearance 😉
A really important thing to remember and that I am good at is not just buying things because they are on sale – I’ll carry something with me all through the store and then evaluate if I really NEED it.
I also use various cashback/reward type apps, like Ibotta for example. With Ibotta I just have to scan some of the items I buy and snap a pic of the receipt, then I get money back to my account to accumulate and eventually redeem via giftcards or to my paypal account. It takes less than 5 minutes and I can easily earn money. Use multiple apps and get even more credit for your purchases!
I recently started using Grove Collaborative for my household items like soap, cleaners, and health type products. Not every item is cheaper through it so I make sure to be aware but they often have deals or freebies and its easy to make sure I stay stocked on the items. Use my link to get $10 and I get $10 too 🙂
Adventures with Hank & Hal.
What are your goals for 2017?
Wreath Swish was easy to put together but racing against the clock made it intense. Just grab some marshmallows, a wreath, and a bucket. The couples had one minute to toss as many marshmallows through the wreath and into the bucket.
Last, gift wrapping was hilarious! Each couple had to work together to wrap a gift but only using one hand each. This game required a roll of wrapping paper, tape, scissors, ribbon and bows for each couple. We really had to spread out and I was seriously impressed with how our gifts came out!
TGIF! The week after a short work week and long weekend is always the worst, ugh. It just seems to go on for forever! We’ve finally made it to Friday though, thank goodness 🙂 These are some of my favorites from the week, linking up with Andrea and Erika.
Today I’m sharing some ideas for stocking stuffers! Some of these I have myself or some I’m hoping for and others I think would just fit the bill well.
I love socks. I especially love holiday socks. I also have several sets from Woven Pear and think they would make a wonderful addition to your stockings! This is my stash 😉
Tossing in a pair of gloves and other cold weather accessories is both cute and practical. These hedgehog gloves from last year are still my fave! P.S. My Mom crocheted my hat and scarf, check her out on Facebook and Instagram to see the cutest things!
My mom (I mean Santa!) still makes us stockings every year. She usually includes make-up basics like mascara and lip gloss as well as a couple new brushes which I think is perfect! I picked up this blender set during black Friday and I received the travel brush set in my stocking last year.
I also love to get various trinket type things. Small things that I wouldn’t necessarily buy myself but are always nice and cute to have =]
Toss in a gift card or two! One year my husband got several Starbucks gift cards, we loved using them on Sunday mornings to pick up a warm drink before hitting up the grocery store. It was our little thing and made the chore a little more exciting.
What’s your go to for stocking stuffers? Do you have favorites you look forward to?
